Song List: Best Hill

The hills are alive, as we know, with the sound of music. But which is the best musical hill?

As a consumer resource, I have rated the following songs about specific hills. The criteria are location, elevation, cleverness of rhyme for "hill", and musical worth (out of 5 asterisks).

"One Tree Hill" by U2
where: Auckland, New Zealand
elevation: 192 metres
rhyme: "We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill."
song rating: ****
(Would be 5 asterisks but for the mental association I now make with the TV show of the same name. Damn you, the WB!)

"Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel
Where: Just outside the city of Bath
elevation: 500 feet?
rhyme: "Wind was blowing, time stood still."
song rating: ***

"Blueberry Hill" by Gene Autry/Louis Armstrong/Fats Domino etc
where: Unknown, probably mythical.
elevation: n/a
rhyme: "I found my thrill."
song rating: **

"Hagnesta Hill" by Kent
where: Eskilstuna, Sweden
elevation: unknown
rhyme: "Little ego be still."
song rating: ***

"Oregon Hill" by the Cowboy Junkies
where: Richmond, Virginia
elevation: Not really a hill. It's a neighbourhood.
rhyme: "But Suzy says she'll wait there, cutting carrots by the window sill."
song rating: ****

"Marvel Hill" by The Cardigans
where: Unknown, probably mythical.
elevation: n/a
rhyme: "I know there is a piece to fill."
song rating: **

Well, despite the WB, the winner is U2's "One Tree Hill". Until next time, keep running up that hill.
