- Duke researchers have captured images of "sprites". Lovely video. "Sprites" are "electrical discharges that occur high above the cumulonimbus cloud of an active thunderstorm".
- Duke has suspended Lacrosse games after an accusation of sexual assault (but the accusation has been called into question).
- Have you seen those stupid Chevy commercials with Duke basketball Coach Krzyzewski (I refuse to call him you-know-what, even though it's a very difficult name to spell - thank God for Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V)? They show him walking in slow motion, like he's freaking Traci Bingham. And he's still got that stupid wig.
- Duke's Nasher Museum recently discovered that this painting (large file) is by an artist called Francois Gerard (never heard of him). It's a little kinky. One woman is grabbing another's breast, while soldiers advance. One of the soldiers is wearing a barely-there toga. The painting is called "Clytemnestra Receiving the News of Iphigenia’s Impending Sacrifice". Here's his "Cupid And Psyche". Here are many more Cupid & Psyches.
- Yes, the Nasher behind the Duke museum is Raymond Nasher, Duke alumnus and patron of the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas.
